Painting, Illustration and Installation

Olaf is a technically perfect artist. He creates enchanting visual patterns, scenes and original characters in which nature and artifice are intertwined. His world gathers together African traditions, Indian temple art, South American folklore as well as pop culture, all expressed in new ways in his almost surreal tableaux. Olaf plays with motifs of flora and fauna, archaic symbols and current themes, working them all into his pieces in great detail and vibrant colour.
 
Olaf’s elegant, figurative, colourful, textural work holds a strong sense of character and fine art sensibility, and his versatile and ever-evolving work is well established in all areas: advertising, design, publishing and editorial, with the occasional foray into animation, and he looks set to be one of the superstars of the genre for many years to come.

He regularly exhibits in galleries all over the world and appears ubiquitously in the awards: American Illustration, Images, Communication Arts, D&AD.

Olaf Hajek was born in North Germany and now resides in Berlin.
