Ray Oranges Lits Up the Foro Italico Stadium for Renault

Following his large-scale artistic transformation of Renault Italia’s headquarters and his recent collaboration at the VIVA! Festival, Ray Oranges brought his vision to the Foro Italico’s Grand Stand Arena, where he reimagined the two bespoke artworks for the French automaker and turned the space into a captivating visual experience.

For this latest project, Ray placed the R5 emblem at the centre, seamlessly weaving together the two pieces. Animated by 22DOGS studio, the artworks unfolded across the stadium’s expansive LED mesh wrap, adapting fluidly to its scale and form to create a compelling experience for the audience.

A key creative challenge was translating Ray’s refined designs to the unique properties of LED mesh. The process required thoughtfully incorporating the visuals into the architecture, addressing structural elements such as entrances and the organic distortions caused by the mesh’s curvature. Additionally, ensuring strong colour contrast was essential to prevent elements from blending together, preserving clarity and visual impact. Achieving the right balance between composition, colour, and scale required a carefully executed interplay of art, design, and technology to uphold Ray’s vision.

Set against the backdrop of the Foro Italico Stadium—renowned for hosting the Tennis Open and major entertainment events—the installation elevated Ray’s artworks, introducing a new dimension where light, movement, and space merged to create an immersive visual experience.
